Death by thick, heavy basslines, finely chopped samples, and fried drums. From the depths of his cave in chicago comes the quiet genius Morbidly O Beats, whos free beat tape "Transmitting live from jupiter" is a manifesto and twisted love note to the art of sampling from a bright new producer.
Using the tools he has been armed with (MPC and an SP303), and an ear for manipulating and layering stolen moments from records past, Morbidly sounds like the codine addicted little brother that the rza and large professor dont talk about. Dusty drums, heavy synths, prefectly timed vocal chops and a whole lot of heart. This isnt another flying lotus/dibia$e/brainfeeder copycat, this is someone who clearly studies the art and history of the beat making craft. Someone who spends hours digging through old forgotten records at hole in the wall record stores and community thrift shops. In a flooded market, in a fast food digital world, its rare you find something with substance that can stand the test of time. MOB is that person. Sit back, throw on some headphones, take a late night walk and let the warm fuzz wrap around your heart and soul and dig a deep hole in your brain, where it will never leave.
This is my ode to sampling. This album was made entirely on the mpc2000xl and sp-303.
